Post Game Developers Conference 2014

Woohoo! Another successful GDC event of the year is over and we enjoyed every moment. With over 24,000 attendees and more than 400 sessions, GDC 2014 was quite a hit ; these were record breaking numbers! Not only was this an all-around successful year for GDC, it was a successful one for Ludei as well.

One of the most amazing and overwhelming responses we received as many attendees flocked to our booth, upon seeing our HTML5 games and WebGL demos, was simply that of “WOW.”  With Ludei being the only cross-platform service to offer 3D, visitors were highly impressed with our CocoonJS technology. They were also amazed at how blazingly fast HTML5 games could be, with performance levels as high as 60 fps. Their positive responses to HTML5 upon visiting our booth had them leaving very hopeful and accepting of HTML5.

Missed our session last Thursday about HTML5 gaming and cross platform development? Here’s what it was all about:

Contrary to popular belief, HTML5 is finally ready for cross-platform game development. We shared best practices for HTML5 game development, case studies and how to overcome seemingly insurmountable issues to make HTML5 games work. With the inclusion of the Canvas element in the HTML5 standard and technologies, like WebG , along with major improvements on JavaScript execution environments, web based games are finally becoming a reality. Additionally we portrayed different options that are available to develop, test, debug, accelerate and publish successful games based on HTML5 in the already existing and established markets.

Take a look at these pictures from the session:

We also participated in the WebGL meet up that was a great way to promote this top-notch technology – it was great to see all the interest in WebGL.

HTML5 Developer Conference (San Francisco, CA: Moscone Center)

As one of the most emerging popular conferences for developers specializing in cross platform technologies, such as HTML JavaScript and CSS for mobile; we at Ludei, wouldn’t miss it! With free t-shirts, and many live demos representing our technology on a variety of IOS and Android devices, countless developers flocked to our booth.

Our VP of Engineering, Iker Jamardo, also gave a talk about WebGL: is it a game changer for web based game development? Take a look at this session’s PowerPoint slides here and get a detailed perspective into the world of WebGL!

Samsung Developer Conference (San Francisco, CA: Union Square)

Our CEO, Eneko Knorr, was one of the panelist speakers in a discussion on: Web Tools and Different Approaches to Web Development. It was an insightful panel, as our CEO talked about the multiple uses of gaming and apps and represented a powerful stance on HTML5 as being the epitome of cross platform technology.

GamesBeat 2013 (Redwood City, CA)

This conference was centered around gaming and gaming alone as companies gathered to share their thoughts and views on what’s really “hot” in the upcoming competitive gaming industry. Our VP of Engineering, Iker Jamardo, was one of the speakers on the panel as well. With HTML5 becoming an emerging technology, it may be the future for both the web and mobile development, as mentioned in this article on VentureBeat. Go HTML5!

Ludei at the HTML5 DevUp by Ideateca

Last month, we participated as both sponsors and speakers at the HTML5 DevUp by Ideateca in Barcelona.

The event hosted more than 300 attendees that were interested in JavaScript development in general and specifically in game development. During the event we had the opportunity to chat with many people interested in our technology.

Here’s the video of our morning presentation. In this video, Ibon Tolosana and Iker Jamardo talk about CocoonJS and the possibilities it offers to JavaScript games developers.

Rob Boerman from Appoint Solutions took part of the presentation.

In the second video our colleagues Ibon and Iker go into more detail during the workshop held that afternoon.

Hope you enjoy it!

Ludei GDC wrap-up

Last week the Ludei team was at the very exciting Game Developers Conference and we had a blast talking to developers about HTML5 and our awesome technology.

Although HTML5 hasn’t fully blown out yet, we saw a lot of excitement and hope for HTML5 amongst all game developers (flash, iOS, and Android).

We talked to various kinds of developers that wanted to make the transition to HTML5 that were looking for a good solution in the present.

ludei stand gdc

We all sensed the rising opportunity for HTML5 and all the developers we’ve talked to were very interested in learning about CocoonJS.

Because our technology does not constrain developers to a SDK or library (thus no code changes), we believe that our technology is positioned to provide the right support in the present while being able to adapt to the inevitable changes of HTML5 in the future.

Thus far, we have gotten great feedback and even though GDC is over, we look forward to hearing from everybody!

Now, hardly anyone doubts whether or not HTML5 is the future of web and mobile development. As you all know, at Ludei we are betting on HTML5 for games as well as for applications and websites. This is a space that moves very quickly, which makes it essential to stay up to date on the newest trends and changes in order to capitalize on opportunities as early as possible and to produce cutting edge products.

Last year more than 300 professionals came together at iPhone DevUp, and this year we have changed the main topic of our annual developers event completely to adapt to the shifts in this sector. This time we will focus on the present and future, opportunities and risks, as well as the truths and myths surrounding HTML5.

Top notch international keynote speakers will reveal their experiences and points of view. Furthermore, attendees will have the chance to go deeper in the areas they are most interested in thanks to the practical workshops and seminars that will be held in the afternoon. At night, a pleasant networking cocktail party will give us the opportunity to continue the conversation with other attendees as well as the actual keynote speakers.
