Welcome

Welcome to Ludei’s brand new web page and blog. We have been working really hard to bring everything together and launch our new site and image. And what’s best to start with but with a blog post that describes the things we have been working on these last months.

As you might know, Ludei is Ideateca‘s gaming brand. We have been developing games for the web and mobile devices quite successfully during the last year and a half. Our main game, iBasket, has been a huge success and it has been downloaded more than 15 million times. We have worked hard to develop our next titles like VideoPuzzle, an awarded innovative and fun game, or Slide Soccer, that has been downloaded more than one million times in it’s first month after the official launch. Ludei’s other games like Four In a Row or Tic Tac Toe, after getting to the top charts in countries like Germany and Japan, are still played by casual gamers all around the world, and we have versions of them for both iOS and Android. It has been quite a ride to get all these developments done and working. A mixture of programming, great design/art work and product placement, result of an effort from all of our departments in Ludei.

Now, we are working in CocoonJS,  a wrapper that aims to turn JavaScript applications into performance-enhanced native applications (iOS and Android) by providing a huge performance boost by using OpenGL native binding and other features.

In this blog, we will have information about both things. Our technology and our games.

Stay tuned!

    Hi,

I am not sure how many people would have adopted BOX2D physics engine had they forced a big Logo of BOX2D on every game that used the the engine.

CocoonJs should stay as an enabler and may earn revenue through back end operation like a share from the adv. revenue. At this moment the play of Cocoon Brand is too strong during the app deployment.

I have seen many developers adopting a little less efficient engine “consciously” because of this issue.

    Just a thought.

    Dear Prabhat,

Thank you for the suggestion. The splash is just the approach we decided to take. The feedback from the developers that are using CocoonJS in their projects is that it is not too much to ask for.

    Thank you once again.

      Hi,

      Thanks for the reply.

In last 25 years of my career, in fact from the days of CD based multimedia applications, I have seen this question being debated amongst the developers. Usually, people want their concept and brand to be predominant and they look for the technologies to enable their ideas. Sometimes, in competitive situations they do not even want to reveal the enabling technologies. People prefer “unobtrusive” /”non-intrusive” technological enabler or atleast minimal. BOX2D is an example of unobtrusive enabler, while ADOBE AIR is an example of minimal presence which is packaged inside the apk for the android apps. You might find it a little funny, but it’s true. Anyway, I was just sharing my thought.

Usually we package the app in phonegap for the android devices. The apk is installed in the android devices by sending it through email. The apk is normally contains both the program and the content or sometimes the content is downloaded from the server depending on the user’s choice.

How can we use Cocoon Js in a situation like this ? Do people have to go to the Android market / Google Play to download Cocoon Js first then receive our JS file ? I do not have the clarity on this issue. Please help.

      Regards

        Dear Prabhat,

we definitively have to update our website if this information is not clear enough. I will try to explain it: CocoonJS is for free right now. If you want to try it out, you can download the CocoonJS Launcher app and check your JavaScript HTML5 Canvas development just by following the easy steps in this link. Once you are sure your development works, we provide a cloud based compiling system that will provide the final xarchive (for XCode) and APK (for Android) so you can submit the application yourself (using your iOS and Android certificates). You don’t need us in the process of creating the applications. In this initial process, the application will get the splash at the beginning. We provide additional paid services as extension for monetization like ads, IAP (In App Purchase), social network integration and more. Deleting the splash is also a paid service. We only want CocoonJS to be used and to let the world know that helps HTML5 developers with their high performance mobile native execution and we really think a splash don’t constrain that much your final application.

Hope it’s clear now, but definitively we will explain this process better in our website soon.

        Regards,
        Iker.
